The following are excerpts from each of the companies websites pertaining to purchasing their products over the Internet.
Make sure you are purchasing from an "Authorized Dealer". To read the actual page follow the link from the brand name.
Elna USA Sales Policy
"At Elna USA, we believe every consumer is entitled to a strong manufacturer's warranty and quality service. To this end, Elna USA has chosen to sell sewing equipment through an authorized dealer network only. Authorized Elna retailers commit to a high standard of service and ethics. Authorized dealers provide follow-up training, advice, accessory items, service, warranty work, and any other services necessitated by a specialty product. Consumers should be aware that the manufacturer's warranty only applies when they purchase their machine from an authorized Elna dealer.
As a company, we do not authorize the sale of Elna products over the internet or by mail order because we have found in most cases that persons selling on-line do not offer the level of commitment and service that is required of authorized dealers. Elna has worked hard to build a network of reputable dealers who make the commitment to stand behind Elna products. We question why a consumer would purchase a sewing machine from a source that has not made a similar commitment to quality service and is not answerable to the manufacturer for failure to deliver on promises.
We believe that a consumer who purchases an Elna machine through a trained authorized dealer will enjoy years of sewing satisfaction."
Janome America Sales Policy
"At Janome America our goal is to provide you with an excellent product as well
as excellent service and support. Therefore, Janome machines are available
only at an authorized Janome Dealer. They are not available by mail order or
over the Internet."
Baby Lock USA WARRANTY POLICY
"At Baby Lock USA, we believe every consumer is entitled to a strong manufacturer's warranty and quality service. That's why we sell our advanced technology sewing machines, sergers and embroidery products only through Authorized Baby Lock Retailers. Authorized Baby Lock Retailers commit to a high standard of service and ethics. They provide follow-up training, advice, accessory items, service, warranty work, and other services necessitated by a specialty product. These retailers have been chosen for their dedication to supplying their customers with superior products and customer service.
As part of the contractual agreement between Baby Lock USA and our authorized retailers, each retailer agrees that they will only sell Baby Lock products within their established market area. Therefore, mail order catalogs and Internet sales to consumers outside of their market area are not endorsed by Baby Lock USA. Our warranty only exists when a Baby Lock is purchased from an Authorized Baby Lock Retailer. In order to be fair to the many Authorized Baby Lock Retailers that provide superior service to consumers, we cannot extend our warranty to consumers who obtain our products from non-authorized sources, including sales over the Internet or through mail order catalogs.
Before you purchase, we encourage you to consider what happens after the sale.
